Intergenerational trauma, a silent force present in all cultures, deeply impacts me and the culture surrounding me. These traumas shape our worldview without explicit communication, manifesting as unspoken fears passed down through sensations, feelings, and unvoiced signals—a silent human dialogue akin to nature's intricate exchanges.
This non-verbal transmission mirrors the sophisticated communication within mycorrhizal networks, where fungi and plants share information and nutrients through chemical signaling. These networks illustrate a complex ecological system, echoing the protective and nurturing roles of inherited traumas.
Reflecting on these themes before the tragic events of last year, I recognized a deep-seated anxiety that became reality, connecting us all through shared grief. This collective trauma, familiar from our history, demands a unique approach, reinforcing or fracturing communal bonds. The recent trauma calls for renewed unity, with profound connections formed in crisis—love, pride, anger, and joy—binding us together like a social "mycelium."
Fungal networks, operating in serene harmony, contrast with our society's silent, anguished discourse, recently shattered but paradoxically united by emotions we never wished to experience, highlighting the unspoken bonds that sustain us amidst adversity.
